Kathleen Ann Markon, 64, of Superior, died Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Superior Rehab and Nursing Center.
Kathleen was born in Duluth on July 25, 1951 the daughter of Walter and Betty (McConnell) Markon.
After graduating from Cathedral High School, she attended UWS and UMD and graduated with a Master's Degree in science and teaching. She taught High School Science in Gilmanton, WI. She was also a manager at B. Dalton Bookstore.
Kathleen enjoyed gardening with native plants, exploring the woods and parks in Douglas County, and reading. She had an extensive knowledge of the native plants, birds, and animals around Superior. As a Master Gardener, she was able to transform her yard into a setting that attracted many birds. She loved animals and along with her dogs and cats enjoyed raising chickens.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Kathleen is survived by her sister, Joan Markon of Superior, her dogs Zoe and June Bug, the house cats whom she loved, and her extended family.
A funeral mass will be held on Tues. Mar. 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Cathedral of Christ the King Church. Fr. Andrew P. Ricci will officiate.
Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave., is assisting the family with arrangements.
