Kay Marie (Dahlberg) Riggio, 64, of Superior, passed away Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, at her home. She was born in Superior on Jan. 24, 1958, the daughter of Edythe M. (Stevens) and Theodore A. Dahlberg, Sr.
Kay grew up in Poplar, attending Peace Lutheran Church and Poplar Elementary School. During High School she worked part time and summers at PV Foods in Poplar. She graduated from Northwestern High School in 1976 and from Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in Superior. She married John Donald Riggio on August 19, 1988, in Superior.
She worked in the billing department at Essentia Health Duluth and part time doing home health care for Indigo/North Country Independent Living.
Kay enjoyed traveling with family, she was a kind, loving, thoughtful person, with a great sense of humor, fun to be with and a favorite to many. She was always willing to help others. She volunteered at the Bentleyville Cookie House for many years. She will be remembered for the many tassel caps she made and gave away.
She was loved by many people who had the good fortune to know her. She will be missed by family, friends, coworkers, and clients.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John in 1995; and brothers, Dennis and Dale Dahlberg.
Kay is survived by her brothers, Theodore Dahlberg, Jr., of Solon Springs, Lloyd (Cathy) Dahlberg of Wascott, Richard Dahlberg of Duluth, Raymond (Georgia) Dahlberg of Fond du Lac, and Stanley (Claudia) Dahlberg of Superior; sister, Nancy (Fred) Renman of South Range; sister-in-law, Shirley Dahlberg of Gordon; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and her beloved dog, Merlin.
Visitation will be on Friday, Nov. 18 th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Celebration of Life at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 th St., with Rev. Donna Rutten as officiant. Burial will be in Poplar Cemetery.
