Obituary

Kenneth D. "Boots" Stringer, 84, of Superior, died Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Essentia Health-Superior.

He was born September 1, 1937, in Superior, son of Kenneth J. and Olive A. (Peterson) Stringer.

On May 10, 1958, in Superior, Kenneth D. Stringer and Sharon L. Fisher were united in marriage.

Boots worked as a longshoreman for many years and was the owner of the Pattison Park Golf Course and many other businesses throughout his life.

He and his father were longstanding members of the International Longshoreman's Association.

Some of his interests included fishing, hunting, and spending time in Superior's north end and its waterfront. His top priority was his family and caring for them.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include his wife of over 63 years, Sharon; daughters, Lisa (Scott) Savoy, Hawthorne, Shelly (John) Pettingill, Superior, and Kristy (Rodney) Pearson, Maple; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Deborah (Bruce) Person, Georgia, and Rosalie (Scott) Dyer, South Range; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Thursday, January 13, 2022, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19 th Street, Superior.

A celebration of Boot's life will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the Tri Lakes Supper Club, on Lake Amnicon from 1 until 4 p.m.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Douglas County.
