Kirby Allan Meives, 81, of Superior, died Monday, November 27, 2023 in his home.
He was born in Ashland, WI the third of four children born to Lorna (Sayles) and Harry Meives on April 9, 1942.
Kirby had his bachelor's degree and master's degree in computer science and didn't quite finish his PhD. He had a very high IQ and co-authored a paper entitled "Monte Carlo Simulation of Language Change in Tikopis & Maori" along with S. Klein and M.A. Kuppin. He was a member of Mensa International.
Kirby was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was in the 5th Army Band with his coronet.
He had a passion for reading, sharing stories, current events and especially politics. Kirby enjoyed walking and listening to music in his spare time. He will be remembered for his good sense of humor.
Kirby was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sons, Kirby "JR" Treharne, and Greg Treharne; his sister, Nancy Konopa; his brothers, David (Mary Jo) Meives and Jerry Meives.
A private burial will be at the Baldwin Cemetery in Beloit, WI.
Downs Funeral Home, 1617 n 19th St. is assisting the family with arrangements.
