Larry A. Larson, 67, of Lake Nebagamon and formerly of Superior, died January 4, 2014 at his residence.
Larry was born in Superior on Aug. 2, 1946 the son of Leo and Margaret Larson.
He served his country in the US Army and was stationed in Germany.
Larry was a Police Officer for the Superior Police Department for 23 years retiring as a Sergeant. He was a member of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association, the Norwood Senior League, many bowling and baseball leagues and a past member of the Elks. He was also the longest running commissioner in the world for Fantasy Football.
He loved the Green Bay Packers and golfing. Most important to him was his family and he dearly loved his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; and a sister, Nancy Van Overmeiren.
Larry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Diane of Lake Nebagamon; three children, Steven (Chandler) Larson of St. Augustine, Fla., Carrie (Jason) Keup of Plover, Wis., and Beth (Lee) Olson of Great Falls, Mont.; eight grandchildren; two sisters, JoAnn Duffany of Michigan and Jeanette Tinker of Texas; a brother, John Larson of Superior; and many brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 10:30am until the Noon memorial mass on Wed. Jan. 8 at Cathedral of Christ the King Church with Rev. Fr. Andrew P. Ricci as celebrant. The Superior Police Department Honor Guard will be present throughout the services.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Raymond, Gary Schold, Bill Grimstad, Marsh Hanson, Dick Campbell, Jack Horner, Jim Van Overmeiren, and Howie Goldfine.
Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th and Ogden Ave., is assisting the family with arrangements.
