Lindquist
June 12, 1948 – February 11, 2022
Laverne K. Lindquist, 73, of Lake Nebagamon, died Friday, February 11, 2022, at her residence.
Laverne was born in Superior on June 12, 1948, the daughter of Matthew and Vieno (Halti) Aro.
She graduated from Superior Senior High School with the class of 1966 and went on to earn her Master's Degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin Superior.
Laverne moved to Kentucky and taught for over 40 years. Teaching was her passion, and she was an advocate for all children, making sure they had a roof over their head, clothes on their back, and food on their table. Following retirement, she moved to Lake Nebagamon and was a substitute teacher in the Maple School District for the last 5 years.
Laverne enjoyed dancing, karaoke, taking Finnish saunas, walking, and swimming at the Y. She also liked to cook and her Green Bay Packers. Most important to her was her family, she was a guardian and caregiver for her brother, and she loved spending time with her grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Delores 'DeeDee' Homich.
Laverne is survived by her son, Ashley Lindquist of Arlington, VA; daughters, Lindsey (LTC(R) Ryan) Keys of Santa Fe, NM and Krista Lindquist; grandson, Matthew Charles Conroy Keys, and Anderson Ward Kurtti; sister, Brenda (Jack) Allen of Friendship, WI; brother, Courtland Aro of Superior; and nephews, Travis and Toby (Ami) Berg.
Visitation will be held on Saturday Feb. 19 th from 10:00 until the 11:00 funeral service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 11416 1 st St. N, Lake Nebagamon, 54849. Pastor Scott Stai will officiate.
A Celebration of Life with entertainment will immediately follow the service at Patti's Dockside, 11580 Waterfront Dr. Lake Nebagamon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lisa Wright, Sharon McCormick, Dennis Haanpaa, Michael Ross, Sharon Colton and Jerry Colton.
