LaVonne Hockin, 84, of Superior, WI passed away in her home with her family by her side on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.

LaVonne was born August 27, 1942 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Ethel (Slager) and Clarence Nielsen.

She graduated from Crookston High School and went on to nursing school. LaVonne married George Hockin on February 25, 2002. She was employed as an LPN at Parkland Health Facility, Middle River Nursing Home, and then Lakeshore Lutheran for 40 years until her retirement in 2002.

LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Clarence (Janet) Nielson, Jr. and LeRoy (Ann) Nielsen; her sister, Elaine (Erling “Dit”) Ditlovson; her sisters in-law, Thea Neilsen and June Neilsen; and daughter in-law, Jennifer Amundson.

She is survived by her husband, George; her sons, Brian (Tammy) Amundson, and James Amundson; her daughter, Bobbi Amundson; her stepsons, Thomas (Lori) Hockin and David Hockin; her stepdaughter, Dawn (Randy) Davis; her grandchildren, Morgan, Taylor, Noah, Ethel, Maxine, Edmond, Jr., and Simone; her brothers, Andrew Neilsen, Richard (Bebe) Neilsen, and Lester Neilsen; and sister, Elsie (Dennis) Hagen.

A Celebration of Life will be held in June of 2027 in her hometown of Crookston, MN.
