LaVonne Mable (Goeke) Mehtala, 88, of Superior, died Thursday, January 10, 2019, at her home surrounded by family.

She was born in Adrian, MN, on January 16, 1930, the daughter of Helmer and Jennie Goeke.

LaVonne married Leslie Mehtala on July 17, 1948.

She was a pharmacy clerk at North Star Drug and was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.

LaVonne enjoyed swimming, gardening, and knitting.  Her favorite place to be was at the family cabin.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie; and siblings, Lorayne, Ione, Melvin, Willard, and Jeanette.

LaVonne is survived by her children, Terri (Scott Abrahamson) Mehtala and Mark Mehtala; grandchildren, Melinda (Brian) Laakkonen, Grace Swearingen, Craig Mehtala, Kayla Quinn, Marley West, Jesse (Heidi) West, and Matthew (Claricia) Mehtala; great-grandchildren, Zach, Ian, Arwen, Iliana, and Savannah; great-great-grandson, Caden; and sister, Darlene Rivard.

Her visitation will be on Monday, January 14, 2019, from 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Bethel Lutheran Church, 5821 John Avenue.  Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
