Obituary

Lawrence 'Larry' W. Cooper of Superior passed in peace on January 4, 2019 at the age of 96.

He was born October 30, 1922 to Walter and Elsie Cooper.

Larry is remembered as a World War II vet. He retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad and continued to sit on their board for many years. Larry loved to dance, and this showed in his memberships to the Moose, Elks and VFW. He drove stock cars with his sons for many years; his love o dirt track didn't stop there as he enjoyed watching his grandsons' race. A lot of family and friends can find creations from his wood shop in their homes; "If you get me the measurements," he would say. He enjoyed watching boxing and the Packers play and was a diehard Red Wings fan. His passion for fishing was shared with many family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Svea Cooper; daughter, Lynne Wicklund; grandson, Shane Cooper; step-daughter, Nancy; his sister, Blanche Schaffer; brother, Bob Cooper; and special friend, Marcia Dahlin.

Larry is survived by his sons, Eugene 'Bud' (Irma) Cooper of South Range, Lance (Laurie) Cooper of Superior and Lee (Marlene) Cooper of Superior; grandchildren, Leesa Krisak, Travis Cooper, Tony Cooper, Robbie Cooper, Tammy Oakes, Geno Cooper, Jimmy Cooper, Amy Cooper-Summerford, Kyle Cooper, Tim Cooper, Brian Wicklund and Lance Wicklund; step-grandchildren, Rhonda, Randy, Kelly and Billy; many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and 'the Girlzis'.

Visitation will be on Thursday, Jan. 10, from 11:00 until the Noon funeral service at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 th Street. Gary Banker will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.

Pallbearers will be Travis Cooper, Robbie Cooper, Luke Krisak, Kyle Cooper, Jimmy Cooper, Tony Cooper, and Geno Cooper. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Brian Wicklund and Tim Cooper.

If desired, memorials may be made Larry's name to the Boys & Girls Club of Superior or the Douglas County Human Society.
