Lawrence I. "Irv" Arseneau, 65, a lifelong resident of Superior, Wis. died Thurs., July 16, 2015 in the VA Medical Center, Minneapolis, Minn .
He was born Oct. 31, 1949 to Delores A. (Arpin) and Clifford L. Arseneau, Sr.
Irv was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War having served his country from Sept. 11, 1969 through July 30, 1971. He served with the 97th Transportation Co. as a Marine Engineer and received the Vietnam Service Medal.
For twenty years he had been employed by U. S. Steel as a Great Lakes sailor on the Presque Isle and had also worked at Mr. Lucky's Bar & Billiards in Superior as a bartender.
Irv was an avid fisherman, especially for large-mouth bass. His greatest game interest was in playing pool, a game in which he excelled.
He is survived by two brothers, Clifford (Kathleen) Arseneau, Jr. of Superior and Steven (Brook) Arseneau of South Range, Wis.; two sisters, Debra (Doug) Severin of Superior and Cathy (Larry) Lawler of Mentor, Ohio; many nieces and nephews including his special niece, Ava Arseneau. He was preceded in death by his mother Delores and father Clifford Sr. and brother Micky Converse.
Irv was loved by everyone who knew him.
Visitation will be Thurs., July 23rd from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. memorial service in Downs Funeral Home, corner of Ogden Ave. & 19th with Rev. Sarah Kerkes, Pastor of Our Savior's Lutheran Church officiating. Gary Galliford will also be giving the eulogy.
Committal prayers will take place in Veteran's Memorial Park at Greenwood Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post No. 435.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Galliford, Doug Severin, Mike Miller, Greg Utyro, Mark Lachecki, Bill Beyers, Joe Schmidt, Butch Bell, and Dicky Raymond.
