Lawrence 'Butch' R. Kempton, Jr., 53, of Superior, died Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at Essentia Health- St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.

He was born in Superior on November 8, 1964, the son of Lawrence and MaryKay Kempton.

Like his father, Butch loved working with cars as an autobody man and mechanic. He had an amazing knowledge and understanding of how vehicles work and how they should be repaired. He also enjoyed spending time at Wisconsin Point and the beauty of Lake Superior. He was a kind hearted soul who will be missed by all those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Robert Dawson Kempton.

Butch is survived by his daughter, Ashley McDonald of Duluth and son, Alex Simard of Superior; siblings, Lori Kempton, Kim Kempton, and Christopher Kempton; grandson, Adin McDonald; nephew Dylan Ramage and niece Jessa Wicklund. He was also very close to his Aunt Jean and Uncle Don Wallin.

His visitation will be on Monday, October 22, 2018, at Cathedral of Christ the King Church from 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial.  Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci celebrant.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
