Leona Sexton, 85, of Superior, died Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.

She was born February 17, 1934 in Shell Lake, WI, daughter of Harold and Margaret (King) Albee.

On March 10, 1951, in Shell Lake, Leona Albee and Robert Sexton were united in marriage.

In addition to raising 4 children, Leona's work history included Saari Insurance, Twin Ports Grocery, and A & W Catering.

Some of her many interests were baking, cooking, bowling, reading, solving crossword puzzles, movies, theater, watching PBS, shopping, shoes, and playing cribbage. To say Leona was a "foodie", especially chocolate, would be an understatement.  In her earlier years, she enjoyed traveling with Bob and going with him on numerous church bike trips, canoeing and camping.

One of Leona's many gifts, would have been the gift of hospitality. Bob and Leona's home was always open to her children's friends. During the kid's college years, she always welcomed their friends over for a good home cooked meal.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Bob in 1994; daughter, Peggy Nichols in 2017; and sister, Pat Hecht in 2016.

Survivors include her daughter, Sue (Jim) Burt, Port Washington, WI; sons, Steve Sexton (Brian McNeill), Minneapolis, and Kevin Sexton (Peter Rosacker), Newark, Delaware; son-in-law, Tom Nichols, Spokane, WA; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2019, at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19 ^th Street, Superior. The visitation will resume at 10 until the 11 a.m. service, Saturday, March 30 ^th at Bayside Baptist Church, 3915 N. 16 ^th Street, Superior.

Following the service, everyone is invited to a luncheon at the church, after which  the family will travel to Lakeview Cemetery, Hertel, WI, for the committal service.
