LeRoy Marvin Walberg, 84, of Superior, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, September 28, 2026.
LeRoy was born on March 5, 1942, in Hawthorne, Wisconsin, to Albert and Alice (Olson) Walberg. From an early age, he possessed the qualities that would define his life: a strong work ethic, a kind heart, an easy smile, and a genuine love for people.
LeRoy attended Northwestern High School and graduated from Stromsburg High School in Nebraska in 1960. Soon after, LeRoy went on a blind date that would change the course of his life. He met the love of his life, LylaNae Goodwin, and knew he had found the one. They were married on December 30, 1961, in Abilene, Texas, beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned more than sixty years and created a legacy of love, faith, and family.
LeRoy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a Crew Chief on C-130 aircraft. After his honorable discharge in 1965, he continued serving in the Air Force Reserve. His dedication, dependability, and leadership carried over into his career at Superior Water, Light and Power, where he started in the mud gang and worked his way up to Foreman of Gas and Water Distribution. He took great pride in his work and in providing for his family.
LeRoy's greatest joy was found in the people he loved. He and LylaNae shared a life full of adventure and friendship. Together they traveled the country visiting family and friends, escaped Wisconsin winters in Florida, and built countless memories along the way.
For more than fifty years, LeRoy faithfully attended Calvary Baptist Church, serving the church family in many ways and living his faith through kindness, generosity, and service to others.
LeRoy loved the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed watching a variety of sports and loved to hate the Packers! He looked forward to deer hunting season, pheasant hunting in South Dakota, fishing trips to Canada, rounds of golf, NASCAR races, and meals with family and friends. He especially enjoyed conversations over a cup of coffee or a cold beer. If there was an opportunity to stop and visit, LeRoy took it. He never seemed to meet a stranger and had a gift for making people feel comfortable and special.
His family will remember him not only for the things he did but for the way he made people feel. LeRoy was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an incredibly proud grandfather and great-grandfather. Being "Grampa" was the title he treasured most. He showed up for the people he loved, offering encouragement, wisdom, laughter, and unwavering support.
Those who knew LeRoy will remember his twinkling blue eyes, his famous wink, his quick wit, and the smile that could brighten even the hardest day. His gentle spirit, warm sense of humor, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his beloved wife; his parents; and his brothers, Robert and Donald Walberg.
He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: daughters Tina (J.D.) Daniels of Granbury, Texas; Tammy (Todd) Hudacek of Superior; and Tracy (Paul) Weekley of San Diego, California; grandchildren Jordan Daniels, Michael (Lena) Weekley, Courtney (Quinten) Scott, and Ivy Weekley; great-grandson Jack Weekley; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, dear friends, and others whose lives were touched by his kindness.
While our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in knowing he is reunited with the love of his life and resting in the presence of his Savior.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 9th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 N. 34th St., Superior, with Rev. Alan Schroeder officiating.
Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Superior. Military honors accorded by the Richard I Bong American Legion Post #435.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to friend and caregiver Amanda Peterson and the staff of Twin Ports Health Services for the compassionate and loving care they provided.
