Lloyd M. Olson, DC, 89, of Superior, affectionately known as "Doc" or "Ole" to his many friends and patients, died Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Essentia-St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.
Lloyd was born in Columbus, North Dakota on March 20, 1923 the son of Alfred and Charlotte Olson.
He graduated from East High School in Superior with the class of 1942 and then served his country during WWII in the Army Air Force. He then attended Logan College in Saint Louis and graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1950.
Lloyd married the former Eileen Cronemiller and they celebrated 65 years of marriage. They returned to Superior in 1950 where he had his chiropractic practice until 1986.
He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, the American Chiropractic Association, Superior Lodge #236 F&AM, Elks Lodge #403, and the Thomas F. Stein VFW Post #1091.
He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed golfing. He loved traveling with Eileen and spending time at their summer place in Iron River. He loved nature, especially sunsets on Spider Lake and tending to his flowers. Most important to him was spending time with his family and he loved to tell stories to the kids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Mabel, Esther, Alice, Edith, Lillian, Kenneth and Richard.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Eileen; children, Chuck (Barb) Olson of Superior, Lori (Terry) Zinck-Jezwinski of Madison, Barry Olson of Bigfork Montana; grandchildren, Amanda and Danielle Olson of Superior, Ryan Zinck of Reno, Nevada, Carey and Alissa Zinck of Chicago, and Lena and Thomas Olson of Bigfork; and several nieces and nephews.
His memorial service will be held on Monday, July 2, at 11am at the United Presbyterian Church. Rev. Joel Huenemann will officiate. Visitation will begin one hour prior. Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.
