Obituary

Lloyd C. Vandenberg was born in Gary New Duluth on August 2, 1923 the son of Jack and Stella Vandenberg. Lloyd died Saturday, August 6, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family at the age of 93.

He left home at 16 and worked on a farm in Ridgeland, WI. He married Iva Tireman on June 7, 1947 and they moved to Superior in 1951. Lloyd worked for the railroad for a short period of time and then became a painter. He worked for Stromquist and Sons retiring in 1985.

Lloyd was a member of the Eagles Club and Painters Local #106.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jim and Tom Vandenberg; daughter, Donna Ashcroft; brothers, Lyle and Neil; and a sister Juanita.

Lloyd is survived by his wife and caregiver of 69 years, Iva; children, Judy Williams, Carol (Russ) Bottjer, Larry (Connie); daughter-in-law Kelly Vandenberg; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held on Sat. Aug 13, at Noon at Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19 th St. and Ogden Ave. Pastor Jason Rhoads, of City Church, will officiate. Visitation will begin one hour prior. Private burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
