Lois I. Budd Holmes, 99, of Superior, died Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Golden Living Center, Superior.

She was born March 8, 1917, in Superior, daughter of Emil and Jenny (Backman) Lundeen.

Lois was a graduate of Superior East High School and in 1939 graduated from Superior State Teachers College. As an elementary teacher, Lois spent most of her career in the Superior school system, retiring in 1968.

Her memberships and interests included a life member of First Evangelical Covenant Church, over 14 years with the Head Start Foster Grandparent program, board member of Maranatha Academy, and numerous years with Child Evangelism Fellowship.

On June 30, 1941, in Superior, Lois married John E. Budd.  Following his death in 1974, she married Russell Holmes in Superior on December 27, 1987. Russell died in 1993.

In addition to her husbands, Lois was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Mabel; brother, Lawrence Lundeen; and sister, Jane Bartelme.

Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Tamte, Apple Valley, MN; son, John (Joanne) Budd, Prairie du Sac, WI; 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2016, at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19 ^th Street, Superior, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.  Reverend Luke Oliver, of First Evangelical Covenant Church, will officiate.

The committal prayers will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the First Evangelical Covenant Church, 3311 Hammond Avenue, Superior.
