Lois
Green
June 12, 1927 – November 4, 2023
Lois (Johnson) Green, 96, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2023, in her home.
Lois was born in Maple, WI on June 12, 1927, on the family farm, and grew up in the township of Cloverland, Douglas County. Leaving home at 16 years old to attend high school in Superior, she worked at the Children's Home in what is now the Fairlawn Mansion. She later trained as a secretary and worked several years for J.R. Jensen Construction Co.
In 1953 Lois married Roger Green of Cloverland and together they raised four children. They moved to Duluth, MN in 1965. Later she worked as a housekeeper in private homes, and eventually in Alaska as a camp cook in various locations. Roger and Lois retired in 1994.
Lois was known for her homemaking skills and as a hostess. She frequently welcomed people to her table for coffee bread and pie. She was appreciated for her practical bent and common sense. She served in many capacities in her church where she attended faithfully. Roger and Lois supported mission work around the world throughout their married life and hosted a Chinese church in Duluth for about 10 years. She testified of God's saving grace through to her final days.
Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Roger in 2001; her siblings, Carroll Johnson of Poplar, WI, Harlan Johnson of Seattle, WA, and Lucille Johnson of Roseville, MN.
She is survived by her sister, Lavonne Bartczak of Staples, MN; her four children, Doug (Margie) Green of Crosby, MN, Lorraine Green and Renee Peterson of Rapid City, SD, and Tim (Connie) Green of Cook, MN. She loved her 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren very much.
The family wishes to extend thanks to the staff at the Sinceri Senior Communities of Duluth and Rapid City, and Stillwater Hospice.
A private service will be held for the family. Interment will be at the Cloverland Cemetery, Douglas Co, WI.
