Lois I. Nelson, 91, passed serenely from this world on August 7, 2022, at Twin Ports Health Services in Superior.

Born to Arndt and Ethel ( née Kronlund) Nelson on November 26, 1930, Lois enjoyed living in South Superior her entire life. She graduated from Central High School in 1948 and soon after became a bookkeeper at Roth Brothers Department Store until 1978. Lois then joined the office staff at the Parkland Health Facility until 1991, when she became an assistant coordinator for the Green Thumb Program before retiring.

Lois loved spending time with her family and preparing delicious dinners, always complete with tasty desserts and Norwegian-hot coffee. A lifelong member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Lois served as a Sunday School teacher and superintendent. She sang in the choir and participated in groups there such as Ruth Circle, Bethel Lutheran Church Women, and Church Council. Lois was an avid gardener with a gift for growing tomatoes and petunias. She also liked travelling with her brothers and their wives, visiting Scandinavia, Hawaii, and the Panama Canal among other destinations.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers Loren G. Nelson and Kendall A. Nelson; sister-in-law Lois M. Nelson; and grand-niece, Margaret K. Maurer.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Beulah Nelson; nephews and nieces: Craig Nelson (Mary Jo), Mark Nelson (Laurie), Valerie Sommer (Fred), Tracy Nelson Maurer (Mike), and Michael Nelson (Candy); cousin, Bruce Kronlund; grandnephews and grandnieces and their spouses and children; and friends near and far.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. funeral service on Friday, August 12, 2022, at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19 ^th St, Superior. Rev. Darrell Kyle will officiate. The committal service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Superior.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Greenwood Cemetery or a preferred charity on her behalf.
