Lois M.
Weiss
June 17, 1930 – July 24, 2021
Lois M. Weiss, 91, of Superior, died Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Twin Ports Health Services, Superior while under the care of Essentia Hospice.
She was born June 17, 1930 in Superior, daughter of Rene and Susan (Vergauwen) Shears.
She married the love of her life, Robert Weiss, on April 19, 1952 and they celebrated 68 years of marriage until his death in August 2020.
Lois was a very social person and enjoyed time with friends and family. She loved music, dancing, walks in the summer rain, a good mystery movie or challenging herself with solving puzzles. An avid Packer fan who looked forward to cheering them on as well as playing her favorite slot games at the Black Bear. She cherished celebrating Christmas for it was a time for family to be together. She loved her cats, all who she named Tobey, with all her heart.
Lois enjoyed working and did so well into her seventies. Her work history included housekeeping, nurse's aide, factory, and hospital services. Those who have had the opportunity to work with her will always remember and appreciate her for her vibrant, feisty, tell-it-like-it-is personality.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Robert; and 3 siblings.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy Weiss, Hibbing, MN, and Theresa Weiss, Superior; son, Robert (Denise) Weiss, Duluth; and 6 grandchildren, David, Richard, Dennis, Kristina, Danielle and Samuel and several great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to the 1:30 p.m. service, Friday, July 30, 2021 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior.
Burial will be alongside her loving husband at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner, WI.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Twin Ports Health Services and to the Essentia Hospice Care team for their compassionate and wonderful care of Lois.
