Obituary

Oliver, Lorilee (Laurie), 70

Beloved Mother, Gabby, Sister, Friend and garage sale hunter.    Laurie Oliver died peacefully at home on Sunday, June 11th after a lengthy illness surrounded by an army of family members who loved her deeply.

Laurie committed her life to family and was the glue that held it together.  She was a loving mom to her children Jodi (Jerry) Hansen, Juanita Oliver, and Joe (Sheri) Oliver, and a treasured "Gabby" to her 7 grandchildren Krista (Erin), Andy, Ellen, Kodi, Katie, Sam and Paige, as well as two great-granddaughters, Elly and Abby.  Laurie had a very strong relationship with her sisters Carolyn (Dave) Ahistus and Jackie (Roger) DeGrugiller with whom she was inseparable and played games with like clockwork every Wednesday.   She had numerous close friends (including her special friend Jim) - several of whom she has been pals with for 50+ years.    She also played the role of loving aunt to 4 nieces and nephews.

Known for her quiet strength and extreme stubbornness, it was her resilience, love, laughter, (and sarcasm) that kept the family grounded during through both the best of times as well as some challenging times.  There was absolutely nothing she wouldn't do for her family and those she cared about.   She devoted her life to the service and care of others and in addition to the roles she played as mother, grandmother, daughter, wife, sister and friend, she spent many years working at Colonial Health Care Services caring for those in need.

While her family is deeply saddened to say goodbye, we know we have been blessed by the years we have had with her and are at peace knowing she is in the loving arms of her mother (Betty) and happily reminiscing with the many wonderful family members who have been waiting for her.

Her visitation will be on Thursday, June 15, from 10 until the 11:00 Mass of Christian burial at Cathedral of Christ the King Church.  Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci will be the celebrant.

Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.

Pallbearers will be her 7 grandchildren, Krista, Andy, Ellen, Kodi, Katie, Sam, and Paige; and Jason Valentine.

The family would like to thank her hospice team for the compassion and care provided to this wonderful woman during her illness.
