Obituary

Lorraine Marie Johnson, 94, peacefully passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020, at her home on Florine Street in Duluth, MN, surrounded by her loving and caring family. She is proceeded in death by her husband of 49 years, Clarence V. Johnson, who has been waiting to dance with her again in heaven.

The light of her life, and profound source of pride, was her wonderful family that includes four children, Cyrene, Bonita, Gary and Brian; seven grandchildren, Kristine, Rachel, Andrea, Reese, Ariana, Katie and Maddie; and two great-grandchildren, Mateo and Kaia. She had a special relationship with each of them and was always very giving of herself and her time.

Lorraine was a fun-loving, hard-working, energetic person with an infectious laugh and good sense of humor. She was happiest when she had the opportunity to camp or travel, square dance with Clarence, or simply spend time with her family playing cards or making a family dinner. She was also a kind and generous person with deep spiritual faith and personal convictions. She always strived to instill her values and morals into her children and maintained a strong connection to them and their families.

Lorraine was born on February 15, 1926, in Cloquet, MN, but spent most of her childhood in South Superior, WI. She loved to tell stories about her unique childhood, especially her days on the farm, and delivering milk around town with her Dad, Arthur, who owned Nelson Dairy. She was especially close to her younger sister, Beverly, as she grew up and throughout her adult life. After graduating from Duluth Business University, Lorraine worked for the Duluth Public School system in various secretarial roles. She was also a member of Salem Lutheran Church.

Lorraine will be laid to rest next to her husband, Clarence, at Graceland Cemetery in Superior, WI. Due to Covid19, only a small graveside family ceremony will be held. In lieu of sending flowers, please consider making a donation to your favorite charity in Lorraine's honor.
