Lorraine (Salo) Luoma Pearson, 87, of Superior, died peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center, South Range.
She was born August 31, 1927, in Superior, daughter of Severt and Ilma (Likkala) Salo.
Lorraine graduated from Superior Central High School in 1945. She married Arvi Luoma in 1946, and had two children, Victor and Mary.
Lorraine was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. She was known as a hard worker, putting herself through nursing school in the 1950's and raising her two children. She worked for 35+ years as a nurse at St. Luke's Hospital, St. Mary's Hospital in Superior, and Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center.
As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, she dedicated her life to Jehovah and symbolized it by baptism in 1955. She had a great love of people and spent much of her time in the ministry helping others learn Bible truths, along with her husband Louis.
Lorraine married the love of her life, Louis Pearson in 1975. Together they enjoyed spending hours together in service, traveling, and time with friends and family. There was lots of laughter and card playing.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, brothers, sisters, and a great-grandson.
Survivors include her son, Victor (Jean) Luoma; daughter, Mary (Duane) Papineau; 11 grandchildren, Steve Luoma, David (Kristie) Luoma, Travis (Lori) Luoma, Tori (Todd) Worsley, Jeff (Thora) Papineau, Tessa (Jerome) Quimby, Nathan (Stacy) Papineau, Marissa (Justin) Schmitz, Jon Papineau, Stacee (Scott) Stute, and Keely (fiancé, Robert) Papineau; many great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Lenore Tjaden and Dick Salo.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 7815 Tower Avenue, Superior.
