Lorraine M. Schmid, 91, of Superior, died Tuesday August 6, 2019 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Cloquet.

Lorraine was born in Sherburn, MN on Jan. 9, 1928 the daughter of John and Leona Posivio.

She had worked as a farmer and a bus driver. Most important to her was being a mother. She enjoyed being outside, gardening, traveling, and picking rocks, especially agates. Lorraine was a member of Darrow Road Wesleyan Church and Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James M. Schmid, son, James 'Tim' Schmid, and 7 brothers and sisters.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Larry (Brenda) Schmid of Hastings, MN; Marie (Stan) Spaeth of Bloomer, WI, Debbie (Jerry) Nikstad of Foxboro, Diane (Tim) Meyer of Sioux Falls, SD, and John (Tammy) Schmid of Cloquet; daughter-in-law, Kathy 'Peachie' Schmid of Superior; grandchildren, Sarah, Rebecca, Lucas, Alaina, Jeremiah, Jesse, Nolan, Kevin, Stacy, Alicia, and Charlotte; 15 great-grandchildren with one on the way; sisters, Leola, Frances, and Vicki; and brother Paul.

Visitation will be on Monday, August 12 from 11:00 until the Noon funeral service at Darrow Road Wesleyan Church. Pastor Mark Holmes will officiate. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery.
