Obituary

Louis E. Carlson, 72, of Superior, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospice, Duluth.

He was born February 25, 1939 in Superior, son of William and Jeanette (Johnson) Carlson.

Louis was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

On December 17, 1966 in Superior, Patricia A. Wilson and Louis E. Carlson were united in marriage.

For over 35 years, Louis worked as a pressman for the Superior Evening Telegram.

He was a past-president of the Superior Pressmen's Local # 204.

Some of his interests included assembling doll houses, reading and traveling. His greatest interest, however, was spending time with his family.

Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Scott Hartshorn; and sister, Patty Strong.

Survivors include his wife of over 44 years, Patricia; son, Rock (Derian) Hartshorn, Madison; daughters, Sheryl Pederson, South Range, and Vicki (John) Trauba, South Range; 10 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Cole, Superior; brother, Tommy Lee Carlson, Duluth; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior. Reverend Charles Plaster, pastor of Concordia Lutheran Church, will officiate.

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior, with military rites accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post # 435.

Pallbearers will be James Pederson Jr., Joshua Pederson, Joseph Pederson, John Trauba, E.K. Wilson and Mike Geere.
