Obituary

Mabel A. Britton, 102, formerly of Foxboro, died Monday July 15, 2013 in Villa Marina Health and Rehab.

Mabel was born August 8, 1910 in Taylor, Nebraska to Regina (Leu) and James Alexander, and was a longtime area resident.

She was a cook at the old Nemadji School for many years and later she worked as a ward clerk for the former Superior Memorial Hospital. Mabel also owned and operated the family farm with her husband.

She was a member of Darrow Road Wesleyan Church; a former member of Four Corners Homemakers; and was a former 4-H leader.

Mabel is survived by a son, Garold "Gay" (Maureen) Britton of Foxboro; a daughter, LaVonne Haney of Corvallis, Ore.; six grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; a brother, Pete Schlafer; five sisters, Julia Reynolds, Rose Nelson, Frances Nelson, Anna Lemmon and Edna Bishop; a grandson, Glenn Haney; a granddaughter, Tamara Britton; a son-in-law, Donald Haney; and a granddaughter-in-law, Babette Britton.

Her funeral service will be in Darrow Road Wesleyan Church on Mon., July 22nd at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Mark A. Holmes will officiate. Committal prayers will take place at the Summit Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim, Mitch, Robert, and Randy Britton, Brenda Day and Randy Day.

A special thank you to all the nurses and the staff at Villa-Marina for their wonderful care and treatment of our Mom over the past ten years. We'd like to also extend a very special thank you to Dr. Brunette and Jaclyn Barney.
