Mae L. Doucette, 86, Superior resident, died peacefully on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Ecumen Oaks Assisted Living in Hutchinson, MN.
She was born on May 7th, 1931 in Superior, WI to Peter and Sigrid (Eike) Thompson. Mae married Joseph "Bud" Doucette on September 11, 1954 and celebrated 56 years of marriage together.
Mae worked in the sewing industry in Duluth MN and worked at UW-Superior's Wessman Arena and Rothwell Student Center. She also helped her husband Bud as he owned and operated two service stations and two taverns in Superior. Mae enjoyed watching her sons and granddaughters throughout their high school and college baseball and basketball careers. She enjoyed taking walks, sewing, coffee at McDonald's, and dinner with the Friday night bunch. Mae always talked about how fortunate she was to have such great neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; brothers, Ted and Rolf Thompson; and grandson John Doucette.
She will be remembered with love by her children, Bill Doucette of Logan, UT, Julie (Tim) Johnson of Hutchinson, MN, Joe (Tracy) Doucette of Colfax WI, and Lisa Doucette of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada; her grandchildren, Stacie, Paul, Courtney, Samantha, Chad, Kristina and Mallie; great granddaughter, Everly; sisters-in-law, Audrey Comeaux and Marge Thompson; and many nieces and nephews, especially Don Little of Superior.
Her visitation will be held on Sat. June 24 from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Cathedral Christ the King Church, 1410 Baxter Ave, Superior, WI. Committal prayers will be held after the mass at Calvary Cemetery.
Paul Doucette, Chad Johnson, Tim Johnson and Don Little will serve as honorary pallbearers.
A causal reception for Mae's family and friends will be held following the committal from 1:00 pm – 4 pm at the Shack restaurant in Billings Park.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at
the Ecumen Oaks memory care unit for their compassionate care and understanding.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations made in Mae's name to the Cathedral Christ the King church or the Cure Alzheimer's Fund,
