Marcelaine Mortensen, 92, of Superior passed away Monday July 23, 2012 during her sleep.
Marcelaine "Marce" the daughter of Patrick and Josephine Murray was born January 20, 1920. She was born in the small town of Verona, Michigan, which now longer exists. She lived in Superior, Mason, and LaCrosse, Wisconsin as she was growing up.
She was married to Walter Mortensen in 1944 and they had a wonderful life together for 52 years. Marce and Walt work to make their business Drysdale Perry Photo Studio a way of living for about forty four years. She would retouch and color photographs for the shop.
Marce was a talented artist and enjoyed painting in both water color and oil paint. Also she did needle craft and made nice things for the house including images of photographs. Always busy doing so many things in life; family, church, altar guild, play the piano, golf, bridge with the ladies club, and so much more. Favorite place in Superior – Billings Park for a picnic.
Marcelaine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter; parents, Patrick and Josephine; brother, Frank, and a baby brother.
She is survived by son, Larry and daughter-in-law, Carol; son, Charles; grandchildren, Erik, Dana, Sara, and Rebecca; great-grandchildren, Mekenna, Erik "Kristian", Simon, Madaline, Meredith, Morgan, Mary Margaret, Mabry and Richard "Mac"; the Murray family; and the Mortensen family.
Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Friday, July 27, 2012 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior. Reverend Charles Plaster, pastor of Concordia Lutheran Church will officiate.
Committal prayers will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
Following the committal, everyone is invited to a luncheon at Barkers Island Inn.
