Marcella 'Marcie' M. Lien, 92, lifelong resident of Superior died Friday, November 29, 2019 at Twin Ports Health and Rehab.
Marcie was born in Superior on Aug 8, 1927 the daughter of Louise (Bartel) and Irving C. Berg. Sr. She married Floyd A. Lien on Sept. 20, 1947 and they celebrated 57 years of marriage until his death in 2004.
She had worked in Food Service at UWS and was proud to have met "Arnold" before he was famous. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and then Our Saviors Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, Bunco Girls, and the Nemadji Women's Club. She chaired the Polio March of Dimes and also served on the PTA.
Marcie enjoyed bowling, her team was National Champions and she was the first Rose Bowl Queen in Superior. She was an avid Green Bay Packer Fan and would throw her "Packer Brick" at the tv. She played softball with her sisters and loved watching her boys play sports. Marcie and Betty enjoyed going to the Casino to play the "puppies" and taking bus trips.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; son, Dan Lien; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois and Al Wolf and Nancy and Floyd Keup; brother and sister-in-law, IC 'Bugs' and Edy Berg, Jr; sister-in-law, Nan Berg; and brother-in-law, Roy Dickenson.
Marcie is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Al) Kurtz of Superior; sons, Greg Lien of Brule, and Jeff (Julie Basina) Lien of Superior; daughter-in-law, Susie Lien of Superior; granddaughters, Angie (Peter) Pienaar and Cassie (Brent) Price; grandsons, Alan (Samantha) Kurtz, Paul (Mary Phalen) Kurtz, Brad (Tara) Lien, and Kris Benson; great-grandchildren, Braydon, Brooklyn and Arlo Kurtz, Rex, Amara, and Cullin Lien, Grady and Paisley Price, and Ella and Kinsley Kurtz; sister, Betty Dickenson; and brother, Dennis Berg.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 th St. Visitation will resume on Monday, Dec. 9 from 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Our Saviors Lutheran Church., 1924 Wyoming Ave. Rev. Sean Koos will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Greg and Jeff Lien, Alan and Paul Kurtz, Brad Lien, Angie Pienaar and Cassie Price.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Twin Ports Health for their loving care of Marcie.
