Marcia M. Dahlin, 84, of Superior, died Friday, February 10, 2012 at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born July 26, 1927 in Ironwood, Michigan, daughter of Arthur and Gertrude (Alexander) Waldo.
Marcia's adult life centered around her family, home, and the wide circle of friends that she, and her late husband, Hank shared. She enjoyed many happy times with family and friends at the family summer home on Lake Dowling throughout the years. She was an accomplished seamstress, knitter and pianist. Marcia enjoyed attending U.W.S. Yellowjacket and Superior Spartan sporting events.
Some of her memberships included the former Hammond Avenue Presbyterian Church, where she and Hank were longtime members of its church choir as well as member of various boards. Marcia was also a member of the United Presbyterian Church, B.P.O.E. # 403, P.T.A., and P.E.O. Chapter E. She volunteered for many years at the former Superior Memorial Hospital and then St. Mary's Hospital of Superior.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Carl Henry "Hank" Dahlin in 1986; son, Carl H. Dahlin, Jr. in 2007; grandson, Richard Paul Dahlin in 1984; and nephew, Michael White in 2008.
Survivors include her daughters, Debbie (Dan) Woods, Superior, and Diane (Peter) Johnson, Boynton Beach, Florida; son, David (Sue) Dahlin, Verona, Wisconsin; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Kathy Dahlin, Superior; sister, Priscilla White, Eveleth, Minnesota; longtime beloved companion, Larry Cooper, Superior; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, with Reverend Joel Huenemann officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
Pallbearers will be Dan Woods, Geoff Torzewski, John Torzewski, Chris Dahlin, Marc Dahlin and Peter Johnson. Andy Torzewski, Zagreb, Croatia will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Marcia's family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff at Middle River for all their care and compassion.
