Margaret M. McElmurry, 81, of Duluth, died Thursday, January 5, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospice.

Margaret was born in St. Paul, MN the daughter of Roy and Lucille McCain. She worked in the Oakland, CA and Virginia, MN school districts and then for US Steel in Mt. Iron.

Margaret loved to laugh, to reminisce with her close friends, to share jokes and stories with her family. Among a thousand things over a well-lived lifetime, Margaret enjoyed blueberry picking, time spent in church, leisurely drives, Friday fish fries and pancakes. And in these last years, she enjoyed these things and more with her love, Bill Ciesielski.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Duane; and brother, David McCain.

Margaret is survived by her children, Joseph Thomas, Spooner, WI, Richard (Joann) Thomas, Fridley, MN, Roy (Dawn) Thomas, Anchorage, AK, and Nancy McElmurry, Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Theresa, Lisa, Matthew, Mary, Lucille, Chloe, and Riley; sister, Ann (Ron) Peterson, Spooner; and brother, Donald (MaryLee) McCain of Waseca, MN.

Visitation will begin on Mon. Jan 9 ^th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence Church in Duluth. Rev. Fr. John Petrich will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery Superior.
