Margaret Rose "Rose Bud" McIvor, 58, of Superior, Wis. died Fri., June 24, 2011 in her residence.
She was born to Margaret "Marge" and Bernard A. Smith, Sr. in Washburn, Wis. on April 3, 1953 and moved to Superior with her family as a small child.
Following graduation from Superior Senior High School she attended WITC and received a degree in business and accounting. During this time she was employed by the Hammond Steak House, Conley's Bakery and Twin Ports Grocery.
In 1977 she was in a diving accident, which left her paralyzed, yet she continued to live her life to the fullest. Education was a priority to her and in May of 1984 she graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Superior in the top ten percent of her class with a bachelor degree in extended sociology. She was a member of the Lake Superior Band of Chippewa Indians, and was proud of her Indian heritage.
Preceding Rose Bud in death were her parents; her step-father, Ron Brokaw; a brother, James "Jim" Daley; a sister, Kathleen "Bushel" Smith; a niece, Tami Lynn Flonnes; and a nephew, Bernard "Ben" Smith III.
Rose Bud is lovingly remembered by her life partner of twenty years, William "Bill" Olson; four sisters, Barbara "Poppy" Anderson, Berthine "Tina" (Richard Voynich) Dembroski, Elizabeth "Liz" (Marcus) Fitzgerald, Theresa "Tuna" Smith; a brother Bernard "Oscar" (Jacqueline) Smith, Jr.; several nieces and nephews; a special family in her life, the Joyce and Rodger Olson family; and her dog, "Angel".
She and Bill enjoyed rummaging and going to auctions. Together they pursued their interest in antiques.
Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Bill for his love of their sister. Without him Rose could not have remained in her home.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. in the Downs Funeral Home, corner of Ogden Ave. & 19th St., on Wed., June 29th and will conclude with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Cathedral Of Christ The King at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday with Rev. Fr. Kevin Gordon as Celebrant. Committal prayers will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
