Obituary

Margaret "Marge" Mergen, age 81, of Cable, WI, died Monday March 30, 2026, at Aspirus St. Lukes Hospital, Duluth.

Marge was born November 11,1944 in Ohio and raised by her parents Marion (Pendergast) and Edward Owens.  She would marry David Mergen on April 25, 1964, in Madison, WI.

Marge's most favorite thing was her family. She was always so proud of her kids, grandkids and great grands and was always excited to show them off. Her house was always full of family, laughter and memories being made. You could always find Marge in the kitchen early in the mornings on holidays and weekends. She loved to cook and could put on quite the spread! Holiday gatherings were very important to her, and she put her whole heart into making them perfect.

Marge was a long-time employee of Telemark Lodge and The Cable Natural History Museum. She was known for her willingness to lend a hand, her witty personality and her larger-than-life smile!

Marge loved watching her hummingbirds and sitting out on the deck. She also loved curling up in her favorite chair with a good book, a Diet Pepsi and her beloved cat.

While Marge was no longer active in the church, her Catholic faith was very important to her. She was always the first to offer up a prayer to a loved one in need.

Marge was diehard Milwaukee Brewer and Green Bay Packer fan. Whether watching on tv or listening on the radio, she and Dave rarely missed a game.

Marge was a one-of-a-kind gal who brought joy to everyone. She will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Marge is lovingly survived by her husband David; children Kim Mergen of Duluth, MN, Jim Mergen of Phillips, WI, Jeffrey Mergen of Drummond, WI, and Michael Mergen of Duluth, MN. grandchildren Erin (Andy), Jase (Amanda), Bryan (Maggie), Rebekah (Derek), Melinda (Joey), Jacob (Jen), Kaitlin (Alex), Brianna, Colin, Lynzie, Cody, Jordan and Tyler.

And 16 great grandchildren. Also, by her sibling Brian (Lori) Baade of OH and extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to extend special gratitude to the staff at Twin Ports Rehabilitation Services, Superior, and Aspirus St. Lukes Hospice and Palliative Care, Duluth.
