Marguerite E. Nelson's Obituary
Marguerite E. Nelson, 89, of Superior, died Friday, September 23, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth.
She was born January 4, 1922 in Ironwood, Michigan, daughter of John and Margaret (Perrero) McQuiggin.
Marguerite graduated as valedictorian from St. Ambrose Catholic High School, Ironwood, Michigan.
She worked many years for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, until her retirement in 1978.
Some of her interests included bowling, Bingo, supporting various sports teams including the Green Bay Packers, Michigan State Spartans, and Notre Dame football.
She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Superior.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Elmer J. Nelson; daughter, Linda Voss; brothers, John and Robert McQuiggin; and sister, Joan Braghini.
Survivors include her daughter, Marsha (Bill) Fennessey, Superior; sons, John (Ann) Nelson, Superior, James Nelson, Superior, Joseph (Diane) Nelson, Brule, and Jeffrey (Vicki) Nelson, Superior; 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and one due March 2012; sister, Delores Harris, Scottsdale, AZ; brother, Bernard McQuiggin, Ironwood, MI; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
As per Marguerite's wishes, private funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, with Reverend Fr. Don Kania officiating.
Interment was at St. Francis Cemetery, Superior.
