Margurite 'Babe' Olson, 85, of Superior, died Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center surrounded by her family.

She was born December 3, 1931, in a house in Gary New Duluth to James and Mary Karnas.  She graduated from Esko High School.  Margurite married Lyle Olson on September 20, 1952.

Early on in her years, Babe's favorite place to be was at the camper, with family and friends.  She enjoyed bowling and ceramics.  Babe enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up and play sports and was so proud of their accomplishments.  She loved hockey!  Babe especially loved her great-grandchildren; they were very special to her.  She also had a group of ladies she enjoyed being with.  Her faith was very important to her and she looked forward to church and dinner on Saturday's with friends.  She called them her "church family."

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lyle in 1999; and brother, George in 2016.

Babe is survived by her children, Mary Lukovsky, Duluth, Steve (Wendy) Olson, Superior, Dan (Melany) Olson, Superior, and Laurie (Mark) Root, Englewood, CO; sister-in-law, Lois Karnas, Bloomington, MN; grandchildren, Jason (Tami) Lukovsky, Duluth, Nick (Melissa) Lukovsky, Duluth, Brett Olson, Superior, Ashlee Olson, Superior, Trent Olson, Superior, Stacie Olson, Richfield, MN, Aaron (Jeff Rieber) Dembroski, Boston, MA, and Alexandria Root, Englewood, CO; 4 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Her visitation will be on Thursday, May 18, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. mass of Christian burial at Holy Assumption Catholic Church.  Rev. Fr. Ronald Olson as celebrant.

Inurnment in Greenwood Cemetery.
