SUPERIOR

Marie Doris Garrity, 94, of Superior, died Thursday, May 6, 2010, at her residence.

She was born September 10, 1915 in Superior, daughter of Emily (Bachand) and John Sweeney.

Marie had worked at the Senior Citizen Drop In Center and was a foster grandparent at Children's Corner Day Care Center.

Her memberships included Cathedral of Christ the King and the Fraternal Order of Eagles # 80. She was past madam president of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and was chosen Mother of the Year.

Marie enjoyed attending her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting events, spending time at the lake, traveling, car rides and watching the Food Network.

Preceding her in death were her parents; first husband, George H. Bukowski Sr.; second husband, Stephen M. Garrity; brother, Francis; and sisters, Margaret, Florence and Betty.

Survivors include her son, George (Gail) Bukowski; daughters, Patricia (Dale) Carlson and Barbara Ward, all of Superior; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Cathedral of Christ the King, Superior. The celebrant will be Reverend Father Andrew Ricci.

Following the service, everyone is invited to Kress Hall for a luncheon.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior, after the luncheon.

Honorary pallbearers will be Marie's grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements.
