Marie A. Vincent, 81, of South Range, WI, went home to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 11, 2017 after a short illness at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.
She was born on April 25, 1935 to Gustav and Emma Turnquist in South Range. She was raised in South Range and graduated in 1954 from Superior East High School.
Marie cared for her parents for many years. After caring for her parents she went to work in the janitorial department at Middle River Health Facility. That is where she met her future husband, Howard Vincent. They spent almost 25 years together.
Marie was a big collector of spun-glass ornaments, and teapots. She loved scrap-booking pictures of dogs and cats, spent time drawing fashion designs, listening to old time country and western music, doing jig saw puzzles and taking many many pictures. Her greatest enjoyment in life were her cats. She made a home for many throughout her life. She adored her most recent "Angel" who she called Baby Girl.
She loved going shopping for clothes and jewelry. She was always adorned with bright colorful clothes and especially enjoyed leopard print clothing.
In 1999, after becoming ill she made her home at Northern Residence in Hawthorne then at Royalton Manor in Superior. Later she lived at Cedar Ridge before making her final home at the Middle River Health Facility in April of 2016.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Gustav and Emma Turnquist, husband Howard, brothers Henry and Albert Turnquist, sisters Elsie Turnquist and Alice Johnson and nephew Paul Turnquist.
Marie is survived by her stepson, Howard (Nancy) Vincent; stepdaughter, Brenda (Ed) Thigpen; and many step grandchildren. Her sister, Minnie Grimh of Frederic, WI; her nieces Carol Gehrke of Mahtowa, MN, Patti (Carey) Mattson of White Bear Lake, MN, Brenda (Tim) Medd of Oakdale, MN, Sharon (Steve) of Foix Calumet, MI, Rebecca (Brad) Harlander of Frederic, WI and Grace Gehrke of New Richmond, WI. Her nephews Roland Grimh of Frederic, WI, and Clarence Johnson Elroy, of WI; and many other family, friends and loved ones.
A funeral service will be held at the Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19 th and Ogden, on Sat. April 15th at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Wes Koehler will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hawthorne.
