Marilyn S. Kantarik, 75, of Superior, died Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Essentia-St. Mary's Hospice in Duluth.

Marilyn was born on Feb. 25, 1942, the daughter of Lester and Elizabeth Thompson. She graduated from Superior Central High School. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church.

Marilyn and her husband James owned and operated Canary's Bar and the Scuttlebutt Bar and Restaurant. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking at the restaurant.

She liked to travel, especially to the beach, going to the races or watching them on tv, and was an avid Green Bay Packer Fan. She enjoyed gardening, solving crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and going to the casino. Most important to her was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, they were her world.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 56 years, James; children, Joseph (Kelly) Kantarik, Susan (Stanley 'Sam') Kossak, Jeffrey (Julie) Kantarik, and Denise (Michael White, Jr.) Kantarik all of Superior; grandchildren, Amanda, Stanley 'Andrew', Malorey, Kirsten, and Callie; brother, Scott (Joanne) Emberson of Superior; sister, Judith Bjerklien of Amery, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Saturday, February 3 ^rd , from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.
