Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Marilyn Bergquist Parish on May 20, 2018.

Celebration of Life will be held at 1pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Nebagamon June 15.  Visitation will be from 10am -1 pm with lunch served at noon. Pastor Darrell Kyle will officiate.

Born on July 19, 1928, to Gust and Minnie Bergquist, Marilyn lived in Superior and Lake Nebagamon her entire life. On July 16, 1949, she married the love of her life, Glenn Parish, and their together was filled with love, family, friendship and church. Marilyn enjoyed the fellowship of Eastern Star, PEO, church choir, golfing, bridge, and quilting.  She hunted, fished, gardened and boated. In her younger years, she volunteered through PTA and Scouts. In Lake Nebagamon, she worked with the Village Board and at National Bank of Commerce in Solon Springs. After retirement, she and Glenn enjoyed 25 winters in AZ. There she volunteered as "Birdie the Clown", a reflection of her love for bird-watching and golf.

Marilyn was the eternal hostess; she loved entertaining and welcoming friends into her home.  In a moment's notice she could serve a lovely meal and do so with grace. Her children's friends were always welcome. She was a good listener and always a peacemaker. She was vibrant, kind, classy, young-at-heart, and adventurous.   Despite her battle with Alzheimer's disease, she brought love, joy and laughter to those around her.

Marilyn is survived by children Susan (Jack) Drinkwine of Crandon, WI, Sharon (Rocky) Nelson of Lake Nebagamon, WI, Paul (Linda) Parish of Webster, WI; and Ruthann Parish of Moose Lake, MN.  Survivors also include brother- and sister-in-law Dick and Janice Parish, grandchildren Ross, Kate, Adam, Paul, Adrienne, Lauren, and Vince as well as great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents Gust and Minnie, husband Glenn, brother Bill Bergquist and sister Marge Ely.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates memorials that will be designated at a later date.
