Marilyn J. Wiisanen, 89, of Superior, died Sunday, October 26, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth surrounded by her family.
Marilyn was born in Minneapolis on Dec. 10, 1924 the daughter of John and Lydia Wicks.
She had worked for many years at Nummi Jewelers in Superior. She was an active member of Safe Harbor Wesleyan Fellowship and the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed traveling and playing cards.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, her parents, and a brother Ralph Wicks.
Marilyn in survived by her four sons, Russell (Rose) Wiisanen of North Bay Canada, Ontario, Thomas (Nancy) Wiisanen of Poplar, Jerry (Brenda) Wiisanen of Superior and Michael Wiisanen of Superior; grandchildren, Jennifer (Craig) Petska, Ryan and Kate Wiisanen, Jodie (Phil) Metz, Brian Rusk, Stacy (Chad) Lowney, Melissa Wiisanen, and Michelle Bayard; great-grandchildren, Payton and Paige Rusk, Mason and Landon Metz, Dakota Lowney, and Christian Bayard; and several nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by many who knew her.
Visitation will be on Thurs. Oct. 30th from Noon until the 1:00pm funeral service at Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave. Pastor Jason Rhoads will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
