Marla Jean (Backlund) Ryan, 75, of Superior, died Saturday, November 7, 2020 with her family by her side.  She was born March 28, 1945 in Superior, daughter of Vernon and Astrid Backlund.

Preceding her in death was the love her life, Roger R Ryan, her husband of thirty-seven years; her parents; her brothers, Vernon Jr., Marvin, Dale, and Raymond; and sisters, Patsy, Carol, Sandy and Nancy Lee.

Marla is survived by her son, Roger (Sarah); daughters, Lori (Adam) Dargatz, Darla (Jon) Orstad and Traci Ryan; her grandchildren, Ryan, Naomi, Aaron, Geoff and Kelsey; her brother, James Backlund; her sister, Dianne Allison; and many nieces and nephews and life-long friends.

Marla enjoyed being a wife and mom but being a grandmother was the greatest role of all.  She loved Elvis and A&W where she was a car hop.  When her children were grown she worked at the Superior School District as a noon-hour aide.  She loved her family and friends and loved being around people.

The family would like to thank all of the caregivers that have taken very good care of mom over the years.  Special thanks to the Essentia Hospice team and the RNs and CNAs at Benedictine that helped them through Marla's passing.

Under the unfortunate circumstances, there will be a private family graveside service.  In the spring, Marla's family will welcome everyone to join them for a Celebration of Life gathering.
