Obituary

Marlene Kay Bell, 76, of Superior, died Friday, January 15, 2010 at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Marlene was born in Superior on Aug. 23, 1933 the daughter of Sam and Clara Conklin.

She had worked as a nurse's aide at St. Francis in the Park. In her early years she played in softball leagues and pool leagues. She could often be found listening to old country music or watching Judge Judy. She was an avid reader and liked to do crossword puzzles. She loved horses and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Jimmie Romans; a daughter, Rhonda Romans; and brothers, Bruce and Ray Conklin.

She is survived by her children, Dan (Marcie Orville) Romans of Duluth, Minn., Sandra (Scott) Ely of Ridgedale, Mo., Bruce Romans of Superior, Scott (Susan) Romans of Duluth, Toni (Bill) Voris of California and Brandon (Mary) Bell of Duluth; grandchildren, Bailey and Ty Romans, Cyle, Brian and Dustin Swanstrom, Kayla Bell, Ashley Wnuk, and Desirae Bell; step-grandchildren, Derek and Jacob Carlsness; sisters, Joyce Lauer and Norma Webber; sisters-in-law, Marjorie (Warren) Nelson and Jean Romans; and many nieces and nephews.

In following Marlene's wishes a private family graveside service will be held at a later date at Summit Cemetery.
