Obituary

Marvel E. Pederson died at home on August 10, 2011. She was born in Cumberland, WI on December 27, 1917 to William and Minnie (Hanson) Martinson. The family moved to Superior when Marvel was six; she attended Pattison Elementary and graduated from Central High School. She married Harold (Pinky) Pederson in 1941. They lived in the Village of Superior where Pinky had been born. After the death of her beloved husband in 1966, Marvel returned to school and then worked at Lignell Drug Store as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1984.

Marvel and Pinky had a wonderful life together, raising three children and enjoying boating, fishing, camping, bowling, and having fun with their many friends and family. After Pinky's death, Marvel continued to enjoy many of these activities as well as sailing and travelling with her daughter. She loved her home and could often be seen on her patio enjoying her garden, trees and birds. She was a beautiful woman of grace, integrity, kindness, love, intelligence, wisdom and adventure.

Marvel was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Wyman (Marty) and Robert Martinson, and other dear family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Jane Pederson of Duluth, MN; sons Gary (Beverly) Pederson of Foxboro, WI, and Ronald (Janice) Pederson of Sioux Falls, SD; brother Gerald Martinson of Ashland, WI; grandchildren, Kierstin Johnson, Denise Mayer, Scott (Heather) Pederson, and Ronda Pederson; great grandchildren, Luke and Grace Pederson; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 followed by the funeral service at 11:00, Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 5821 John Avenue, Superior, with Reverend Gary Garnatz officiating. In Marvel's memory, memorials are suggested to Bethel Lutheran Church, the family church.
