Mary Alice Culhane, 76, lifelong resident of Superior, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014 St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth surrounded by her family.

She was born on Dec. 10, 1937 the daughter of Ruth (Nicholson) and Allan Byrnes

Mary married Michael Culhane on July 20, 1957 in Superior, Wisconsin.

She had worked at Michael's Hallmark in Superior. She was an avid bowler and bowled in the Candy Counter League at Village Lanes. She also enjoyed golfing at the Poplar Golf Course. Mary loved breakfast at the Billings Park Cafe.

Preceding her in death were her parents, and step-mother, Pharielda ; her husband of over 54 years, Michael on May 18, 2012; two brothers, Jim and Leo Byrnes; and a special friend, Betty Belanger.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Casey (John) Peterson, Colleen (Shane Hickok) Anderson, and Kelly (Scott) Killian, all of Superior; sons, Dan (Nancy Mitchell) Culhane, Minneapolis, MN, Dennis (Christala) Culhane, Maple Grove, MN, and Patrick (Karla) Culhane, Superior; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Claire Flaherty of Superior; brothers, Harold Byrnes of Bloomington, Allan "Bud" (Nancy) Byrnes of New Brighton and Peter (Cindy) Byrnes of Shoreview; sister-in-law, Betty Byrnes of Madison; many nieces and nephews; and her cat, Zoe.

A celebration of life will be held at the Billings Park Civic Center on Monday, June 30 at Noon. Honorary pallbearers will be the Friday Night Crew at O'Neill's.

If desired memorials in Mary's name may be made to the American Breast Cancer Foundation.
