Mary M. "Maddie" Olson, 93, of Superior, died Sunday, July 21, 2013 in Villa Marina Health & Rehab.

She was born April 30, 1920 in St. Paul, MN and had been a longtime Superior resident. She and Emmanuel Claus Olson married October 2, 1937.

Mary worked at Connolly's bakery as a cake decorator. She was a very active member of the former Ogden Avenue Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Guild and served faithfully in the People's Gospel Mission.

Mary loved being with her family and friends. She fed us, helped us, laughed and cried with us, prayed with us. Her grandchildren were her passion, but everyone she knew became special to her. She was such fun to be with. She enjoyed games (she cheated), puzzles, and reading her bible daily. Her faith and strength were a gift to all of us. Her love nurtured us, and she lives yet in our hearts and in how we live. Special thank you to her family at Villa Marina – you truly are the best. She loved you, and all of us appreciate how you cared for her.

Mary is survived by her children, Raymond (Carolyn) Olson of Las Vegas, NV, Marlene (Ray) Patton of Blaine, MN, David (Marcia) Olson of Sun City West, AZ, Sandy (Chuck) LeMieux of Superior, Debi Olson of Superior, and Bea Besvold, who was like a daughter; sixteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmanuel; two brothers, George Whitcomb and Clifford Whitcomb; son-in-law Jerry Frasier; and grandson, Joseph Olson.

Join us to celebrate her life on Saturday, July 27th at 1:30pm at Downs Funeral Home, 19th & Ogden. Pastor Phillip Terrell will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jerry, Pat, Mike, and Scott Frasier, Joshua Wood, Chuck LeMieux Jr., and Curt LeMieux. Chuck LeMieux Sr., Ray Patton, and Gary Fellbaum will be honorary pallbearers.
