Mary Ann Molner, 88, formerly of South Superior, then the Lighthouse of Superior, died Saturday, August 20, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth.
She was born in Minneapolis, MN, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Pnakovic) Kopito.
Mary worked many years at the Giesen Clinic as a lab technician. She also owned Mary's Knit Shoppe and was co-owner of Superior Auto Parts.
Mary loved to spend time with her grandchildren, travel, play Bingo, quilt, knit, sew, golf, bowl and go shopping. Mary loved to try new crafts all the time. She started Mary's Knit Shoppe and then a ceramic shop in her home, painted porcelain, china and made beautiful dolls. She loved doing things for her church and also the Superior Douglas County Senior Center and the East End Senior Center. She was also involved with the Douglas County Homemakers.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and its altar society, Catholic Daughters Court # 1190, and was a board member of the Superior Douglas County Senior Center.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Robert in 1995; and brother, John.
Survivors include her daughter, Diane (Robert) Fonger, Superior; son, Randy (Janet) Molner, Blaine, MN; 5 grandchildren, Seth (Traci) Fonger, Elyssa (Tim) Donarski, Kris (Karen) Molner, Lindsey Molner and Cale Molner; and great-grandson, Raymond Molner.
Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at St. Francis Xavier Church, 2316 E. 4th Street, Superior. Reverend Father James Tobolski will be the celebrant. Catholic Daughters Court # 1190 will pray the rosary at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Superior.
The pallbearers will be Mary's grandchildren.
The family would like to thank everyone at the Lighthouse of Superior for making her life there so wonderful. To all the welcoming smiles and gestures of kindness they all provided to her.
Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements.
