Mary-Varden "Rustie" Jones age 79, died August 28, 2023, in Superior, Wisconsin.

Rustie was born December 30, 1943 in Neenah, Wisconsin to Mary-Varden (née Gallinger, Fyckes) and Robert Cole.

Rustie graduated from Central High School and earned her bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Wisconsin - Superior in 1965 and 1968, respectively.

She is preceded in death by her sister Paige Cole.

She is survived by her sons Lance (Penny) Waldum, Judson Waldum and Parrish Jones; grandchildren, Skylar Madsen, Megan Astley and Lochlen Waldum; and siblings, Sally Cole and Randy Cole; and dog "Peck."

Rustie's life was filled with adventure and in her youth she was a regular skydiver and scuba diver.   She spent most of her life in Superior, but from 1979 to 1990 resided in Thunder Bay, Ontario.   Rustie was a passionate gardener, loved to travel, especially to Europe, spoke French fluently and most of all loved her friends and family.

A special thanks to the staff at Twin Ports Health, and her friends for spending countless hours visiting her.

Private family services will be held and her ashes interred in Greenwood Cemetery, in Superior.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
