Obituary

Maureen Lundberg, 84, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024. Born in Duluth, MN on January 22, 1940, Maureen lived a life rich with service, joy, and vibrant community involvement.

Maureen was a cherished Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, where she dedicated her career to providing exceptional care with kindness and empathy. Her compassionate spirit extended beyond her profession and into every facet of her life.
A devoted member of numerous local organizations, Maureen's presence was a beacon of enthusiasm and commitment. She was an active participant in Elim Lutheran Church including Sarah Circle, Elim Choir, the Music Quartet, and Line Dance Group. Her love for the community was further evident through her involvement with the Red Hats, Breast Cancer Survivor group, West Duluth Moose, and the American Legion. Each group benefitted from her vibrant energy and unwavering dedication.

Maureen had many passions that she pursued with enthusiasm. She found joy in fishing, ATV riding, gardening, reading, quilting, and sewing. She treasured every moment spent at her cabin, creating lasting memories with family and friends. Maureen also had a passion for collecting, especially rabbits.

Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, Gage Herman, Ed Kiheri, and Mabel Lessard, and her beloved husband, Larry.

She is survived by her children, David Lundberg, and Kristi (Kyle) Streitmatter; her grandchildren, Parker (Madison) Lundberg, Brady and Brooke Streitmatter; her sister, Diane (Dennis) Monson; her brother, John Kiheri; her niece, DeeDee (Josh) Elleson; and her nephews, Derrick (Michelle) Monson and Dan (Kelly Palmer) Monson.

Maureen's legacy is one of love, service, and an enduring spirit that touched many lives. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.

A visitation Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service at Elim Lutheran Church, 6101 Cody St. Duluth. The interment will be in Oneota Cemetery following the service.
