Maxel L. "Max" Bojaski, 77, of Superior, died Monday, May 11, 2015, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.
He was born October 19, 1937, in Logan, West Virginia, son of Walter and Pauline (Klausen) Bojaski.
Max attended Logan High School. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS New Jersey.
He continued his love of sailing, working for the Great Lakes Fleet for over 20 years, and retiring from U.S. Steel.
On August 15, 1968, in Logan, West Virginia, Bertha Tapanila and Maxel Bojaski were united in marriage.
Max loved spending time outdoors gardening and feeding the birds; however, his greatest passion was his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Walter, Edward and Adam; sister, MaryAnne; and step-son, Kenneth Mattson.
Survivors include his wife of over 46 years, Bertha; son, Michael (Edith) Bojaski, Logan, WV, daughters, Tina (Gary) Baisden, Logan, WV, and Lori (John) Adrihan, Escanaba, MI; step-children, Gary Mattson, Superior, Lynn (Bob) Hallstrom, Baxter, MN, and Peter (Kathy) Mattson, West Palm Beach, FL; grandchildren, Dustin Bojaski, Kaitlyn Bojaski and Emily Adrihan; and step-grandchildren, Andrew, Jason and Joseph Mattson.
Visitation will be from 4 until the 6 p.m. service, Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, with pastor Jenny R. Armstrong officiating.
Military rites will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435, following the service at the funeral home.
