Maynard E. Maki, 82, of Superior, died Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.
He was born in Oulu, WI, on August 22, 1934, the son of Unno and Elsie Maki.
Maynard and Kathleen Peterson were united in marriage at Pilgrim Lutheran Church on January 25, 1958.
He honorably served his country with the United States Army and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany.
Maynard was a switchman on the Soo Line Railroad for 30 years.
He enjoyed gardening, his cabin in Iron River, and wintering in Brownsville, TX, with Kay. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Keith.
Maynard is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kay; sons, Paul (Andrea Carroll) Maki of Brule, and Dale (Terri) Maki of Brule; grandchildren, Hannah, Jenna, Jarret, and Brad; great-grandchildren, Bria, Maci, and Aiden; and brothers, Norman (Judy) Maki of Colorado, and Mervin (Rosie) Maki of Iron River.
His visitation will be on Tuesday, August 8, from 11:00 a.m. until the noon funeral service at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Iron River. Pastor Carol Braun officiating. Burial will be in Iron River Cemetery.
