Michael T. Gondek, 94, of Superior, died Monday, January 12, 2015, at Villa-Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center, Superior.
He was born July 26, 1920, in Superior, son of Steve and Anna (Kuhorik) Gondek.
Mike proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during both WWII and the Korean War.
His work history included U.S. Steel in Morgan Park and Fraser Shipyard, Superior, where he worked as a master carpenter.
Mike was an avid gardener and fisherman.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Robert Gondek; and brother, Steve Gondik.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Leola; daughter, Dianne Quigley (David Kjoberg), Superior; 2 grandchildren, Jeff (Kim) Gondek, Superior, and Jill Gondek, Phoenix, Arizona; 3 great-grandchildren, twins, Justin and Jeremy Knase, both in the military, and Kyle Gondek, Superior; daughter-in-law, Paulette Gondek, Superior; brother, Joseph (Janice) Gondek, Superior; sister, Ann Kelley, Superior; nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Veterans Memorial Park, Greenwood Cemetery, Superior, at a later date.
